If you're interested, my brief introduction and history with this car can be seen here: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=229506

The day finally came last Thursday and I picked up my 1990 CRX Si back from the friend I sold it to almost 7 years ago.

The car feels amazing, pulls strong and has already gotten a couple :)b from people in traffic!

Sorry for quick dark pictures, I snapped them at a friends house and the car is currently at my installers getting the alarm done.

Beyond the rear seat and taillights, I've purchased a good amount of parts that should be coming in the next weeks. It's mainly aesthetic stuff like amber corners+bumper lights, rear mudflaps(looking for fronts if anyone has any FS), windor visors, rear visor, dc2 arm rest etc.

As you can see the drivers door is the worst part of the body, i'm hoping it can be salvaged but if not the car came with another mint door, I'd just rather keep as many original panels as possible. I'll be meeting with body shops in the coming weeks to iron out the body work and paint situation. My plan is respraying the car in barbados yellow using the SiR paint scheme.

The next hurdle will be finding the hatch leak as I've already discovered it leaks when rained on for long periods. I've read all the leak posts I could find so I'll be attempting to tackle that next weekend. I'm not putting speakers or my rear seat in until that is fixed.

Other than that I just need to raise it up a little as it's a tad too low for me on these Austin streets. Oh, and install a headlight buzzer, I've already left them on at least 4 times

Alarm install on Sunday went great, got the tint installed this afternoon and my tint installer did a great job as always.

I had pretty much given up on finding an SiR front end as I couldn't find a complete one at all, and figured I could spend the money better elsewhere at the moment. Well today I went with a friend of mine to his coworkers house, turns out his coworkers brother recently picked up a CRX, and guess what front end it has......yea.

So long story short his brother is on the fence about selling it to me, but really wants functional AC and some rear interior pieces as his CRX is his daily, both of which I have. The AC is going once I get the Kraftwerks SC and the rear interior pieces he wants are coming out when I install my rear seat anyways, so I don't care about losing either.

But I need your guys help because I'm honestly not sure what a full B series CRX AC set up and rear interior pieces go for. Can anybody give me any rough estimates for me to use during negotiations? The rear interior pieces that I would be trading are the center storage/lock box, the upper partition that latches and the rear cargo cover(all original, never had to be repaired).

Any help is greatly appreciated!

So from browsing eBay it looks like the rear interior pieces go for about $200 a piece on average.

Lower Storage Box
http://www.ebay.com/itm/88-91-1988-1991 ... KB&vxp=mtr

Lower Cargo Cover
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1988-1991-Honda ... 2441277527

Rear Cargo Cover
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1988-1991-Honda ... eC&vxp=mtr

And although there isn't a complete set up for sale on eBay, I looked up most of the components and I feel the AC set up in the car is worth around $500.

Hopefully with all these parts, my USDM front end plus cash on top I can get that SiR front end.

I should also be meeting with my body/paint guy today to go over specifics.

After getting annoyed with my sunroof not opening and closing when I wanted it to, also with how slow it was, I decided to go ahead and clean/grease the sunroof switch.

Followed the walkthrough from here: http://www.benoitcloutier.com/BAGNOLES/ ... Repair.pdf

It was all pretty simple, although you do gotta be careful not to break any clips on the switch during disassembly.

Everything taken apart

Clean contacts on the left, dirty on the right. Big difference!

After I put the switch back in the sunroof opened and closed with every press, but was still a little slow on the last 1/4 when opening and the last 1/4 while closing. I cleaned as much of the old grease off the rails and applied a generous amount of white lithium grease. After a couple open/close cycles this thing works better than ever!

I also fixed my hatch rattle with a couple wraps of electrical tape on the striker. Cheap and effective!

While I was messing around with the hatch I did a quick once around looking for any obvious signs of cracks, it only took me a couple seconds to find it...

That's the drivers side, it wasn't as bad on the passenger, but still cracked. I pulled up about 1/8th of the drain rail trim on both sides, cleaned the area around the cracks as best I could and applied some seam sealer, i'll be taking it by the car wash today after work to see if that resolved my leaks for now. I plan on having the body shop professionally repair it when I go in for paint/body, but for now i'll be happy if the seam sealer works so I can install my rear seat and new rear speakers.

I should be receiving my DC2 arm rest in the mail today, also power window install is happening this weekend!

Lastly, I noticed that I need to replace the drivers side hatch seal/trim. I checked online and can't find a part number.

http://www.bkhondaparts.com/auto-parts/ ... lgate-scat

I've looked at numerous parts sites and googled everything I can think of but i'm beginning to think it's not something I can buy separately. Junkyards are my next destination, any help with this one would be greatly appreciated!

Couple updates from this weekend.

My Integra arm rest and center console arrived. Arm rest even came with the rear fog switch! I'm not sure what I wanna wire it up to yet though, as i'm doing the 2 OEM dash switch's for the front and rear fog lights.

So I planned on trimming the center console to match up to the CRX stock console, like this picture:

So I cut the console, and trimmed it close to that picture, then I mounted it in to do some fine tuning and realized I has already cut too much. Turns out the person who did the one above, didn't use the factory bolt holes. Of course looking at it now I can see that's obvious. I want to use the factory bolt holes(as well as find the rear brackets), so I've already sourced another Integra console and i'll be trying this again once it arrives.

My biggest update this weekend was power windows!

The kit I purchased: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003X ... UTF8&psc=1

My installer charged me $100 to put them in and I cannot be happier with the results!

Video of them in action: https://www.flickr.com/photos/148842984 ... res/Z7X3jV

Sorry about the dirty car, I still haven't cleaned it since I bought it, been pretty busy. I also don't know how to embed Flickr videos(just moved over from PhotoBucket).

I'm extremely happy with how the windows turned out, in time i'll be upgrading to EDM door panels and LHD OEM switches, but this is awesome for now!

The next power mod is going to be power windows, I've got my eye on a set, and my installer says all he needs is both mirrors with the harness that comes out of them, and the switch with the plug, everything else he can figure out. I've found a set but it doesn't have the plug for the mirror switch. From just looking at it, it looks to be almost identical to the EF sedan power window switch, can anyone confirm?

As soon as I can find a plug for that switch i'll be ordering them!

Also, both SiR front ends that I found locally never worked out. So i'll be staying with the USDM front, but I did order a set of the Glass ZC Single Bulb adjustable headlights with the switch, so those should be pretty cool. I also ordered the deck lid wing that I like, i'm not 100% sure which trim level it comes off of.

I also ordered a nice looking set of Universal yellow fog lights in hopes to emulate the SiR styling, along with an "SiR" style front lip, pictured below.

I think of all that together will complete the front end nicely, I may look into getting a ZC hood in the future. I've already received my side markers, just haven't installed them yet.

I also picked up a dual switch mount to replace the useless little cubby hole to the left of the steering wheel. I plan on mounting both my fog switches in there.

Got an OEM rear fog switch, as well as an 88-89 rear defrost switch as I've been told them work exactly the same as fog switches. I'll be figuring all that out once the front fogs get here. My taillights came with the 90-91 rear fog switch that replaces the interior dimmer switch, but i'm trying to keep as many options in my CRX as possible, so that switch may be up for sell/trade soon.

Other than that I ordered all my audio set up for the CRX. Flip out touchscreen head unit, 4x 6.5" 4 ways, single 12 in shallow mount sub + box, amp, wiring kit and a backup camera. I can give specifics if anyone really cares.

That's it for the weekend guys. This week i'm hoping to get my interior all cleaned up and install my rear seat. I also wanna start ordering LED's as I want to swap out all of my exterior bulbs with LED's.

Oh yea! Almost forgot, when I went to transfer the title the other week I went ahead and applied for "Classic" plates, they can be put on any 25+ year old car, and I think it's cool to be able to put the "Classic" designation on my CRX.

Installed my rear seat yesterday after work.

It took me about two and a half hours from start to finish.
I used this walk through and everything went in fine.
http://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-crx- ... n-1719845/

And the finished product, sorry for the darkness, but I finished after the sun went down. Also look how bright that LED dome light is!

Now i'm just waiting on my EDM rear cargo cover that fits with the seat. I decided against trimming my USDM one and ordered an EDM one from Poland. Too bad it wont be here until mid-late April.

Got some more quick updates.

I installed my side markers yesterday, I think they came out nice. Gonna wire them up this weekend.

I also received my DashMat yesterday so I threw that in. Some people say it's tacky, but I think it adds a little 90's charm to the interior

I also received the universal fogs I ordered off eBay, but they turned out to be cheap chinese assembly's that definitely aren't worth the price paid. I'll be returning them and I bought the prelude fogs sloshed was selling, I think i'll be much happier with those.

That's it for today, I gotta go meet with my body/paint guy!

Finally confirmed everything with my body/paint guy, I'll be dropping the car off on Monday and he says it should only tame him a week or so.

Today I deleted my rear wiper, I think it looks a lot better. Also the spoiler I ordered has the wiper hole shaved already so it'll be perfect. :)b

I also bought a 3d printed tail light overlay on eBay so I threw that in. I like it, especially because it mounts within the light housing and it's not just a decal on the exterior. I also threw some LED lights in the 3rd brake light. When I install my EDM tail lights I'm putting an OEM replica CR-X decal on the center bezel, so I think it'll match nicely.

Cool updates!

Glad to see another Y49 on the forum (again). Cant wait to see what the final product looks like after the paint is done. :)b
Thanks! Your car looks amazing btw! Hope mine comes out as clean.

Got my headunit, speakers, amb+sub and rear view camera installed this weekend. Audio sounds amazing now, and I forgot how well bass resonates in these cars.

I also received my ZC adjustable headlights from Germany, I had my installer check them out to confirm everything works, and unfortunately it seems one motor is completely shot and the other only emits a quick buzz sound when initially connected to power. I'm going to take the motors off the lights and disassemble them to see if maybe it's a physical malfunction. If not, hopefully I can get a partial refund from the person I got them from, I still want to keep the lights as I prefer the single H4 to the dual 9005/9006 set up. Unfortunately it looks like the chances of finding just the motors for sale are slim to none :(

I'll be dropping the car off today or tomorrow to start the bodywork/paint, I took my climate control out so I have something to work on in the meantime. It's in two pieces and already had one of those reinforcement plates on it, but my buddy who sold the car back to me has an ok condition spare. I'm going to see if I can use parts from both to make a fully functional and solid climate control. I'm hoping to have that done by the time the car's done, along with cleaning up and polishing my EDM taillights with the rear fog.

That's it for now!

Just got back from dropping her off for the body and paint work. The current scheduled pick up date is April 9th!

I also received two packages today that I wasn't expecting for weeks, the first was my wing, which unfortunately I didn't snap a picture of but y'all know what they look like. I dropped that off with the car this afternoon and decided to have it installed using the four 10mm bolts that are already on the wing. I don't plan on taking it off or switching styling so I didn't wanna just double side tape or window weld it on.

The other thing that showed up was my EDM rear cargo cover, I didn't expect this until mid April but it was a welcomed surprise. Now my rear interior is complete again! I had to glue down one corner of carpet but other than that it's in awesome shape!

Other than that I did pick up a pair of front mud flaps from shortA25, which I gotta say I'm really glad I was able to get them, as they're gonna complete my exterior. Decided to put my decals on the rear's that I already have.

I wasn't originally sure if I was going to put them on or not, but it's a nice accent and will match the silver DOHC Vtec decal that's going on the doors.

All I'm waiting on at the moment are my two new roof moldings, two new rear window moldings, my front lip and my front fogs. All but the fogs should be here by this weekend. Really hoping I get the fogs before the 9th so I can have them installed before I get my car back, but we'll see.

I got my new moldings and front lip in yesterday!

Gotta love that NOS OEM goodness.

Front lip is polyurethane, so of course they folded it up when they shipped it :(

But luckily that's nothing a half hour with a heat gun can't fix :D :)b

Couple other updates, the seller I bought the EDM headlights from is shipping me two replacement motors for the headlights. He's already tested them so now I can finally wire them up and install once I get the car back. I was also made aware that the power mirror pigtail is the same between ef sedans, da integra's and 2nd gen preludes, I found and purchased one from a DA, so i'll be purchasing the power mirrors very soon.

I'm going to drop the parts off this weekend so i'll be sure to snap some progress pics. Other than that I'm probably gonna start polishing my tail lights after work today. I wanna have everything ready for the 9th.

It's been a pretty productive Saturday, and I also got to see the progress on the car!

I went by this morning to drop off all my mouldings, along with all the other parts I got. He wasn't too keen on doing the front lip and kept grumbling about how it's after market so I'm just going to install that after I get the car back. Same with the fog lights I got from sloshed, which showed up today. He doesn't wanna attempt to mount them as they're not CRX fogs with the factory brackets, etc etc. Again, no biggie as I can do that after I get the car back aswell. I also dropped off a donor door I got with the car so he could use all the mouldings from it, as they're perfect.

I only snapped a couple pictures while I was there.

When I got back home I decided to work on the lights.

I cleaned the fogs and applied the Lamin-X overlays on them. I always use Lamin-X film when tinting lights and I'm never disappointed.

They came out really nice and I can't wait to see them on the car!

Next was the taillights, I just did a cleaning, then a buff/polish with rubbing compound and then wax. The center garnish could probably use a wet sand and buff as there were some scratches I couldn't get out. But i'll do that some other time.

I think they came out great! I went ahead and installed the new decal as well. I gotta say though, the hardest part of all this was getting that old sticker off. Probably took me almost an hour alone.

Yesterday I went and picked up the remaining parts from my buddy who sold me the car.

I got:
A BNIB passenger window regulator.
A fully functioning drivers window regulator.
A pair of broken front bumper lights.
BNIB shifter boot that goes to the chassis.
A replacement clock that lights up amber (I actually sold him this 4 years ago lol)
The stock cluster as he swapped to the EDM one when he did the motor swap.
The tool to take out the rear trailing arm bushings.
Carbon fiber battery relocator (which I was planning to buy anyway, score!)
BNIB tubing for the windshield washer nozzles.

Now that's a good load of some quality parts, but the main thing that I was excited he found...

A 95% intact climate control he pulled from a parts car but never installed, you can see the condition of the one that was in the car to the right. I wanna reinforce this thing the best I can, I already ordered a new cover plate for it. Any guidance on what to use to reinforce it, and where to reinforce it the most would be greatly appreciated.

It was really filthy when I got it, but it cleaned up nice!

It was actually pretty nerve racking cleaning the thing, I'd be pissed if I ended up breaking it.

That's it for today!

I got the climate control steel reinforcement plate yesterday so I decided to knock that out.

I didn't wanna rely on the double side tape attached to the plate so I scraped it all off.

Then I sanded the whole thing down.

Did a 400 grit scuff on the climate control.

I decided to go with JB Weld Plastic Weld epoxy for the adhesion.

The stuff worked quick and was easy to work with but man does it stink!

I left everything clamped overnight so it could set.

It came out good and feels sturdy as hell. As you can see in the picture, there are spots of epoxy that can still be seen in the right light, but as long as it holds together I don't really care.

I also applied some to every crack and potential stress point.

And lastly it all back together, minus the temp selector knob as I left that in the car.

Other than that I gotta go drop a new door lock cylinder rod clip to the body guy as he broke my drivers side clip while dismantling the door. It's a 27 year old car with brittle plastic, **** happens. Unfortunately he's not gonna be there so no update pics :( But the car should be done by this weekend so it's not long!

Wow wow wow. Good work, coming along really nicely. Fog lights looks fantastic. Lamin-X huh. Good to know. :)b
Thanks a lot! And thanks for the fogs, they're in such nice shape!

And the Lamin-X is top quality IMO, here's the amazon link for what I always purchase: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001P ... UTF8&psc=1

I'm enjoying watching your build progress! Great work!

+1 on thanks for the tip about LaminX. It looks like it turns out well. On my old CRX (the white CRX that you posted up above), I painted the fog light lenses. They never looked that good, and the paint needed to be reapplied from time to time. If LaminX was around back then, it would have been a better option!

Thanks for the kudos!

I got that picture off the eBay listing for the front lip I bought, crazy that it's your old car!

Yea I first used Lamin-X to tint my DelSol foglights yellow years ago and haven't looked back since. The film is quite thick, yet malleable, and is self healing so most scratches that may happen with usual driving will disappear in time.

Thanks for taking the time to comment, I was wondering what was up with 7k+ views and very few comments, haha

Received my parts from EFParts.com last night.

Got the LED kit for my cluster and my climate control, even though I'm sure the climate control LED's are wrong. I also got the front fog light switch and another 2 switch plate.

Other than that I got a couple sneek peeks from the body guy.

The wing I ordered already had the wiper hole covered, which is why I bought it, because I had already deleted my rear wiper. Apparently whoever plugged/shaved the hole on the wing didn't do a very good job as my body guy is having to re do it, so that may push back the pickup date a little.

Lol, yeah that picture was taken in '06, and has been getting used by various companies for a bunch of years now. What's funny is that I had a carbon fiber J's replica lip installed in that picture...but these companies use that picture regardless if they're selling a fiberglass/polyurethane/etc lip.

Thanks for the info. I think I'll end up using the LaminX on my truck!

Well it's a really good picture! And I did wonder why the lip looked glossy compared to the trim haha.

That picture is basically my goal for the front end of my car. I mainly can't decide if I want a CF ZC hood, or if I wanna try out one of the fiberglass ones and get it paint matched.

Finally update time!

So the body/paint was finished a couple weeks ago, and when I received it back I wasn't very happy with it. There are runs in some spots, orange peel in other, and some over spray here and there. That killed my motivation for a couple weeks but I'm over it, plus the guy will slowly be fixing all my discrepancies over the next couple of months, so it'll all be good in the end.

There are a couple things to note, like the fact that I have a 88-89 drivers door trim with 90-91 everywhere else, slightly bigger trim is better than no trim any day! But if anyone has one for sale let me know! Other than that I still need to put the new badges on, and the rear window seals are missing because I was unaware that you have to remove the glass to replace them, so i'll be doing that sometime within the next couple weeks.

And i'm loving the spoiler!

This weekend I'll be installing my front lip, EDM adjustable headlights along with HID's, my amber corner and bumper lenses, my EDM rear tail lights, window visors, rear visor, rebuilt climate control, and hopefully my front fogs. I also picked up the power folding mirrors that sloshed was selling and I'm real excited to get those. I already found the switch and relay online so I'll be ready to go once they arrive. If I have time I may give mating the DC center console to the CRX console another try.

That's it for today! After this weekend i'll be at a solid stopping point for the exterior and begin to focus on the interior!
