Bigdare's S2000

(I decided to create this thread so I wouldn't trash my CRX's one with non-CRX content. :D )

I purchased my Suzuka Blue S2000 around Memorial Day.

At the local dealer

It's funny, because this color (or even this car) was on my radar. I wanted a NA1, but I decided to be patient and pass on getting one. Since Honda's supercar wasn't on my radar, why not settle for Honda's 3rd best car (behind a CRX and NSX  ). So I was set on S2000. I knew I wanted a AP1 because I preferred the higher redline. Also, I dropped the first few years out of my search because they had plastic rear windows and no rear defrosters. Then I set my color combo requirements (red/black, black/red, or black/black) and started my search throughout the east coast. Unfortunately, I was unsuccessful. Everything was high mileage, over priced, modified, had a salvage title, or was sold before I could see it :( . Then I came across local ads for a suzuka blue and three other silverstone S2ks. One silverstone was 10miles away, but was "on hold", and the other two were about 45-mins away. The suzuka blue was about 20-30mins away, so I decided to check that first and the rest is history. Test driving it made me forget that I didn't want a blue on blue car lol.

I threw a Spoon Shift knob on it

I love lip wings, so I decided to throw on a AP1 wing

Since I'm not really a fan of amber, I decided to install JDM AP1 headlights

Bumper off (you can see my Spoon reservoir covers)

Half way done

Both are installed and functional

Time to throw the bumper back on

Lip time now

And now I'm done.

Nice find! I have always liked the Suzuka blue personally. I'm sure you like it more now :) . The sound these cars make really is one of the best notes I have ever heard. Enjoy!

I thought AP2s could rev higher? Since the retainers were beefier. The redline was set lower but they said if you swapped in AP2 retainers into AP1, you could rev pretty high (10k) and then a valve would float lol..
Either way you could still rev high haha..

I sure do. The color has definitely grown on me some more over the pass two months. I agree with you on the exhaust tone.

Honda reduced the red line of the AP2 because of the added stress/force the motor would see due to the larger stroke. Plus, AP2 cams are less aggressive. AP2 retainers are the results of Honda redesigning and over engineering a part that was originally faulty.

Very nice. How many miles on the car? Looks like it's in very nice shape. I have a 04 silverstone red/black. Mine has around 37k.
Hi Steve. It's been a good min!

The had 71k when I purchased it in May. Now it's about 77K. I have to commuting back and forth from VA to NC to visit my wife, so by the end of the year I'll probably be at 115k-120k lol

Honestly, the choice of interior color ruins it.
It's just like driving a drop top Civic STD LOL

You oughta fill a swimming pool with black dye and throw your interior in there. I've honestly never seen a S2000 with blue inside.
LOL

Blue interior isn't common because it only came in the suzuka blue models.

A lot of guys get the center of the seats recovered in another color and it looks a lot better. Blue was a popular interior color for the blue ap1's.
Also inserts added to the door panels

In 2003 they also did a white exterior with blue interior, or at least in Canada.
Oh, and congrats. Awesome car.
Over here whites only came with red, black, or tan interior. The tan interior is even less common than the blue.

Yeah I'd be swapping that to black right quick and in a hurry.
Also needs more hard top.
A hard top is definitely on my radar.

Those headlights look awesome!
Thanks Chris! I love how the headlights made the car look more aggressive and less girly now lol.

Jeff, here's two more pics

Here you can really tell how curved it. It's angled toward the driver seat, but you can still see the passenger seat and roll bar.

And here's a pic of the Spoon emblem because I'm a ricer at heart. :D

For a Spoon part I would have expected that the quality would have been much better. The edges aren't cut properly and fitment is just okay. :|

Since I still have the "Spoon Bug" I picked up a few more items.

Spoon Radiator stays and drain plugs

Probably should have gotten ones that stood out more... lol

One installed

And now a comparison

(You can also see my Rick's Front License Plate Holder)

I also picked up Spoon Radiator Cap and Oil Cap

(horrible pic I know)

Updates over the passed few weeks

Continuing my Spoon theme I purchased a Spoon Strut Bar.

To help clean up the bay I also purchased a billet PWJDM battery tie down

Shorty afterwards my Spoon center brace came in

Gotta love Cusco... (rear tie bar)

Then sometimes you find a good deal that you cant pass up...

(At this rate I might get to start back on the REX in 2013  )
