I've never had any issue using the Google search function on here.
Though it would be nice to searhc users posts and user's started threads.

The google search is garbage, nowhere near as good an integrated search should be. I think the reason why the integrated one was so restricted (ie, word is too common, word is too short, etc) is because it consumes server resources and could be used to try and DoS the site. But this can be mitigated by only allowing logged in users to search (which I think is already in place), and by limiting the frequency of searches (ie, must wait 30 seconds between searches). Also upgraded server hardware would help. Maybe the new admins will upgrade the hardware and address the weaknesses in the integrated search.

I don't think it's that bad, whether it be posting a link for someone else or my own research, I've always found what I've needed to.

That happened a year ago or more... Good ol' Viglink. It was the impetus behind me finally adding no-script to my browser. Viglink may have been disabled after that, I don't know. But it's not exactly new.

^ Yes, it's new. Started few days ago. Better than pop up ads, I can live with it

It happened in December 2011. I think it was turned off again after that because some of us complained. As I said, that was the final impetus for me to get no-script added to my browser. I haven't seen that type of ad since--anywhere.
