[POLL CLOSED] Do you want a "General Automotive" Forum?

Postby jfrolang » Sat Nov 07, 2009 2:01 am

This would be for anything that is off-topic and related to cars. You can put your ebay finds and your autoblog links and your requests for help with your mom's Odyssey in this forum. The Lounge will remain for all other off-topic posts.

I would think it should relate to CRXs in some cases... like the CRX related threads in the Lounge now. Good idea, got my support.

only if its honda related since a lot of CRX RELATED tech knowledge can be shared between honda models, but otherwise i say NO.

same reason why i wouldnt want classified ads for computer parts on a CRX forum.

Why would it have to be crx related? we have 200 forums for that.
Its to seperate all the good car threads, from look at my piercings threads in the lounge

See what I mean?

this is why we cant have nice things.

Yes but some people like to read about some other cars or see pics or videos of ANY vehicles.
We shouldnt have to sift through a bunch of off topic threads that are talking about the holidays, or relationships or anything like that to just see a video or some pics of some cars, ya know?

Hellz yeah! General automotive would be great, you could also make another one just for CRX's, not sure if thats too much work or worth it. It wouldnt make much of a difference to post threads, but would help when trying to look for CRX related threads only.

daveb91 wrote:This still is a CRX site right????

Yes but wouldnt you want to ask questions and get help about other cars from here too? I have to say this site does have more knowledgeable people than many other 1-car sites out there.

Sure, I think any non-CRX car topics should be welcome too.

if we got rid of the lounge then something like general auto would be almost required. But with the lounge still in place, I see no value in adding another non crx related forum on a crx driven site. After all, we can already post other car stuff there....so why bother with adding something that we basically already have?

i agree.

adding a separate forum for non-crx related stuff is only encouraging it. just like if we added a "craigslist/ebay" forum. you guys can post that [crud] in the lounge, thats what its for, along with your relationship issues or whatever, but some of us wish ppl used a bit more discretion. i choose to ignore all those CRX tech-less threads anyway. i am my own filter.

if you guys want this to be a CRX tech forum, then theres no point in highlighting anything but crx tech and if we did then this forum might as well be "talk about anything else anyone who OWNS a crx has on their mind" forum, which is awfully very little crx tech.

btw, we should follow this:
CRX COMMUNITY
The BEST resource for Honda CRX related talk and Technical Information!

I wanted to see what you'd say to that Dave :P

I don't see why everyone is making a big deal about having non-CRX stuff sorted into a different place. You don't have to read that part of the forum if you don't want to, I probably won't myself, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't exist. Beyond a good source for information, this site IS a community for a lot of us. I met my best friend through this forum, I've gone to a wedding for friends on the forum, actually got a job and moved across the country because of this forum. I give out technical information and help here for free, and hooked up local members on stuff when I'd normally charge people by the hour for that stuff. Anyone who is hung up on this being a technical forum, I guess just stay out of the lounge and whatever the lounge may become, or at least don't complain about it. We all have things going on in our lives that are not CRX-related, and some people like to share that, or share other interests with the rest of the community. Nobody is forcing you to read that stuff and if you don't read it, it's not like you're missing out on anything.

At the end of the day remember it's a FREE forum with FREE content. There's an awful lot of bitching about what other people are doing or how the place isn't being run.

Good idea!

If I did have a question about my mom's odyssey, i wouldn't want to have join an odyssey forum site or whatever...

I think a general (car) related forum would be nice, somewhere to show where to get good deals, talk about non-crx cars, etc.

I support!

Got my vote but me would suggest keeping it just everything JDM instead of granny's lincoln, it would most likely be a waste of space.
