Expensive parts

This cost more than most people spend for their Civic/Crx.
$4400 with 8 days left!

Shill bidding. There was an ITR trunk mat at $2600 last time I saw it too. I laugh at these people.

Seen one just as "rare" on j.c. Whitney! That auction started @ $.99... I can't, I just can't! :dizzy:

People are even asking to much for the front armrest. If they are such a "rare" find how come you can find 5 of them for sale at any given time?

Oh, and the one posted is really cool, but that price is crazy whack... :bounce:

Apparently there is one for the 6th gen Civic as well, but much more 'affordable'.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Honda-Civic-EJ- ... 2270475246

In my 17 years of being into Hondas', I have never seen either of these until now.
It just seems funny how now after 25 yrs the 4th gen one pops up out of nowhere.

I also just recently saw an ad for a full set, front and rear, 2001 Canadian ITR seats, which are all red, with an asking price of $5k! Granted, there are only 250 or so sets in the world.

Some of these asking prices are mind blowing for this stuff!

"It was thought to be a myth..." that's why you've never seen a 25yr old part as clean as this!

Lots of flippers out there (baker!). Also, think about all of the 4th gen civics/crxes that were available. The % of armrests to cars is pretty small, so I think that rare is a fairly accurate term.

I do think it's funny that so many people are outraged (the HT discussion of robb's thread is even funnier) with this, but are ok with SiR front ends, Mugen this or that, or other JDMness. It's all the same [crud] in the end.

I'm not a flipper, I'm selling off what I have left! :)
If I had the rear armrest, sure, I'd toss it to auction and see how the dice land.
If someone wants to give me $4k for an armrest, so be it, it just seems crazy to shell out that type of coin.
On the same token, how crazy would I be as a seller to turn down that kind of money?

Looking at prices for some of this Honda stuff makes my head spin....
I've never seen a car actually garner this type of market for it's parts, forget the entire car!

In 2003 I spent $200 on NIB floor mats and $125 on a good-condition armrest. I was called crazy at the time. Turns out those could have been great investments.

They corrected the auction....

Though when you think you've seen it all, I see someone asking $1800 for NIB black floormats.

Time to stick with BMWs. Those seem more affordable now.

Especially now with people asking $1800 for floor mats, + $1200 for new shifter console, and $4400 rear sedan armrest, that's $7400 on 3 parts for a 25yr old Honda, but you can get the car these go into for about $1k.

Or defy the laws of supply and demand by living without those things. It's still a crx w/o the armrest...

Or spend the $20 at a local salvage yard, pick up a 96-00 Civic armrest, put a little bit of time into it, do a ncie job and retrofit it, and have an actual functional armrest that isn't going to crumble under the slightest pressure because it's brittle, 25 yr old plastic.

Hahaha, well times are definitely changing. I met a guy at my welding class for car restoration who's in his late 60's (actually they were all much older than me and my buddy) but he has a black si with only 48k KM on it, he had no idea they had appreciated so much in value if kept low mileage and good condition. Anyways i think CRX's are just gonna keep going up in price, so if you have a nice one just hang on to it. Not to earn money but because in a few years it'll cost that much more to reacquire one in good condition.

89 Si is the garbage CRX. I would never buy one (again).

I'm thinking of picking up a ZHP (03-05 330i M-Sport Package). They can be had for $7500 for one with 120-130k miles and are a ton of fun. Either that or a 335D.

Yep, not my favorite either.
Now '89 Civic SI is a different story for me.

Whenever I need a good laugh I just search "rare crx" on eBay. When you see door trim set (6 pieces) for $1,400.00 and heater controls for $1,200.00 makes me want to list all my BNIB parts that I have! The nSX CRX guy that posts in the WTB forum is one of the people listing stuff for crazy prices. The sad fact is no one makes aftermarket for 95% of the parts for our cars. I started buying and storing parts for my overhaul 12 years ago. The only exterior parts I could not find were mirrors and the windshield cowl, found everything else.
