Your car won't get seized and crushed. Sure, the CRXes are falling under the 25-year exemption now, but the EPA may decide next year to issue a "clarification" of their rules stating that the exemption only applies to cars that are in every way identical to the US-market cars. Or only to cars made on Tuesday. Or some other such criteria.

And if that happens, welcome to crusher town!!

Before you say "Oh they can't do that", take a look at the fuss about their proposed "clarification" prohibiting turning street-licensed vehicles into track-only vehicles... (Or rather, mandating that all of the certified emissions equipment remain in use by the vehicle, even if it will never see the street again.)

Since they are merely "clarifying" the "existing rules", they can even claim not to be changing the rules so that you can't be "grandfathered" out of obeying them...

Yeah, it's a real slimy trick. And it's been done before!

--DD

What are you talking about? The article states that it's for MY '18 and newer to not have its emissions tampered with for becoming a race car.

Not sure where you're getting they will crush the cars from? It would be grandfathered in and I'm pretty sure Bill Gates and others have more at stake with their 959s as opposed to a few cleaner CRXs.

Yep at least you read it. :-)b

Patience is key regardless of where the car is. There are still excellent examples out there and many of them can still be had at a good price.

How rare is it to see a car that has a cage in in, but still a stock airbox...

It's got some nice features, and like Geoff said, some odd things not done. For me, there's too much done that I wouldn't want on it to justify the price. Hate the rims too.

For $10k, I would want it to be LHD, non glass top and could do without the cage.

In Japan not as rare as you would think. Most of the cages over there are seemingly useless bolt-ons, only good for cosmetic purposes and many tuners use factory airboxes.

We have those posers here too, because they have a "roll cage" and gutted interior, they think they have a "racecar".

It's authentic JDM. In this case that means Japanese Domestically Molested.

So they'll bolt one useless thing on, but not another?

Makes sense.

Most CRX's up here in Canada are rusty. You won't find one that isn't, well at least not anymore. You should see
how rusty my parts car is...the rear bumper support mounts to the body are rotted, rocker panels have huge holes in them etc. The biggest problem is they salt the roads here which KILL these already poorly protected Hondas.

RHD cars belong on RHD roads, sorry.

The only CRX i'd buy would be an SIR from Europe.
