She's home!!!!

Postby NinaAndNeal » Thu Sep 29, 2016 8:19 pm

Hi guys!!! Some of you guys may remember, some may not, but I had to share my excitement!!! Quick back story, 9 years ago this November I made the deal that if I sold my CRX my husband would buy me a S2000. Everyone close to me hated that I drove a small, old car and was just sure I would get myself killed in it. She was almost built to perfection but for some crazy reason I thought a S2000 would be a wise choice. It took just two days to sell my CRX and I cried like a little kid. I immediately was regretting what I had done.

Fast forward a few years....S2000 just wasn't the car for me so I sold it and bought a 90 black Si. She was all stock and with a little tlc, in amazing shape for the age.

Now up to date! Last week I was in an accident and well seriously crushed! A lady turned into me at an intersection and damaged my door, fender, and dog leg. I posted on Facebook how heartbroken I was and asking for positive vibes, I fear the insurance company is going to not understand. A friend of mine messaged me asking me to call them asap. He proceeds to tell me he has heard my old CRX was up for sale!!!! My husband went out to the guys house leaving our info. The guy called that night and said he was thrilled we got in touch, he was hoping to find us and give the opportunity to buy bank. After some negotiation she came home last Friday!!!

The guy owned her for 9 years and changed nothing!!! He literally just drove her to and from work, even the head unit was the same! Well, he changed the wheels but that will be an easy fix.

Yep, that's awesome, Nina. Car looks great, even better once the tint is fixed and appropriate wheels are on. :D

Enjoy your old friend.

Cool story, not many people get a second chance at the exact car they sold and regret selling.

Sorry if I'm out of line posting this question in your thread, but super curious to hear your feedback! What did you not like about the S2000? I always wanted one and have heard good things. Even drove one quite some time ago and from what I remember, I quite liked it. Then again, never got the chance to drive one on the daily so it could have been just the hype of getting into one for the first time.

Great story, congrats Nina! Glad you're ok after your accident.

I'm curious about the S2k too, obviously it's not a CRX, but I think I'd like to own one someday.

They're great cars, my buddy has an '05 AP2. Super easy to work on as well. It's no CRX but it's still a ton of fun to drive. CRX has more cabin room than the S2K and I'm not a fan of convertibles either, I tend to put my seat back far from the steering wheel (long legs) and the S2K seat doesn't go back far enough for me to be comfortable. Handling wise it's a very responsive car, just not used to rear end breaking loose before the front...

I've always wanted to build/supercharge an S2K, but my wife think they're ugly.... :(

Nina- I was of course touched reading your story as I've had an Si since I bought one new in 91. Once I saw the picture of the TGP car I began to wonder if you were the couple I met at the Orlando CRX meet many years ago who turned me on to the Forever Black trim dye. After searching your old threads I see where you recommended it back in 05. So it must be you two. Anyway that's all, just wanted to say hi and glad you got her back.

Hahahaha! Yep, that was us in Orlando! I still love that stuff!!

As for the S2K. Cabin is tight, even for a 5'4" girl weighing 135, feels numb compared to a CRX, the stereo sound is nothing compared to a CRX, the crowd it attracts is...well different. I loved the color though, bright shimmery yellow. Plus there was something about a car payment that I just hated. I had never had a car payment. It seemed stupid to pay $350 a month for something I drove less than 200 miles a month.

CRX's are my happy place and always will be. I got lucky on my black crx. The insurance adjuster knew what I had and even though the damages were about 85 - 90% of the value, he cut me a check and left the claim open for I Cade we needed more! Now I'm the proud owner of two!!!! One fully stock and super clean 90 Black Si and one 91 Tahitian Green modded crx.

90 CRX Si. The one that got hit. I just got her out of the shop and short of finding the door molding strip, she's even better than before.
