Not mine yet but will probably be tomorrow. '84 1.5L

Not the coolest CRX, I know but my first car was a 1984 CRX 1.5 exactly like this. Same color, same stupid blue interior. This one has been sitting on a lot that sells a lot of cool old Japanese stuff for several months. I drive past it every couple of days. It's been haunting me. I finally stopped today after wife permission to at least check it out. 100k miles. One owner. (I verified that.) A little rust above the rear wheel arches but very solid everywhere else. I pulled up carpets and crawled underneath with a flashlight. Runs great. Full service done. New brakes. Interior is warn but doesn't show signs of abuse. Never modified at all. Didn't drive it yet but if it drives well when I go back, it's mine. Been in storage since 2002. (Hence the old plates.) The seller made me swear that I wasn't buying it to use as a winter beater or to modify it within an inch of it's life. I just want it because it was my first car. I totaled my old one. (As one does when they're 17 and drive like an idiot.) It' may not be one of the "cool" CRX's but it's "mine."

UPDATE! It's mine! Or will be in early January anyway. The guy who sold it to me bought and just kept it for a year working on it without ever putting it on the road so he has to do the title paperwork. All NYS so it should be fine. They're just very slow this time of year. Gonna take that month to do some minor stuff like rebuild the carb. Or maybe just put a Weber on it. Haven't decided. I want to keep it mostly stock but those Webers are cool.

Congrats - first gens are fun drivers; much different feel than the 2nd gens. Good luck with the rust, though.

Thanks! I sent numerous photos to a body guy back home that I trust. He said none of the issues were anything serious and was shocked at how good it was. He estimated about a grand to fix the rear arches and two small spots in the torsion bar supports that aren't all the way through yet. Including a partial re-spray. I may pay a bit more if I have the money and get the doors redone under the side skirts also. I pulled those off and there aren't any holes but it ain't pretty down there. I'll take it down to him sometime before Spring. It'll be residing in my garage most of the winter anyway.

Shockingly clean. Carpet is wrecked in the back and the seats could use a recover. I covered the only rust above. It isn't pristine underneath but no holes in the floor anywhere. Carpets were dry and no musty smell inside, etc.. It's been in storage since 2002. Current dealer/owner (he's technically a dealer, but it's a side business and he's more of a collector) bought it for his personal collection and did all the required engine work after such a long sit (other than the carb) and replaced the gas tank.

From what I know about 1st gens, you're way ahead of the curve with that plastic front end being so pristine.

Hope you take it to Niagara in July - always good to see one there. :-)b

Check out the N23 thread in the "Events" forum. Two-day CRXapalooza meet on the Canuck side of the border, third Saturday in July. Camping, drinking, talking about cars, and hi jinx ensue. Also on FB if you're so inclined.

Also, if you don't already know about it, redpepperracing.com is great for 1G shizzle.

I am the user formerly known as bryanjball. I couldn't figure out how to change my username (Probably not allowed. I know I don't let people do it on my forum.) So I just made a new account.

It's here. It's mine. I am beyond elated. Driving home was entertaining. No issues I didn't expect but the bad carb makes it challenging to drive in stop and go traffic. Had it up to 70 on the highway. Everything felt fine. Engine seems to have all of its whopping 76 hp intact. Brakes, transmission and clutch are all good. A basket full of interior rattles but that's to be expected on a 32 year old car. I got it near redline a couple of times and took an off-ramp at a good clip and was reminded of what I missed so much about this car. A long road ahead to when it's where I really want it but mission accomplished. And no... These plates aren't staying. "CRX WING" already ordered.

So far, so good! Still can't believe I found one just like my old one in this condition.

Me too. I thought a unicorn like that was impossible these days unless it was a ton of money and had been in storage for a long time.

It was in storage since 2002. Original owner passed away and his kids sold it to the collector I bought it from. He was about 80% through getting it road worthy and decided that he likes old Toyotas better. When I went to pick it up, it was between a Datsun B210 and a 70's Toyota Corolla manual station wagon that were both mint. Good company. He was hesitant to sell it until I told him my sob story about it being my first car.

No wing. Just a name for the number plates. I'm leaving it as stock as humanly possible in 2016.
