CRX from St.Pete

Postby HFREX » Wed Dec 21, 2016 12:50 pm

Hey all! Just purchased a 1990 CRX HF and came to this forum to learn a little bit more about the CRX and update my thread with anything new. Anyways, I bought the CRX last Friday for 500 bucks with a blown headgasket. So I will just be replacing it with a d15b2 and throwing a a6 intake manifold on it. This is the engine:

The engine was initially for a civic wagon I have but I want to go a different route with the wagon so it will be sitting for a bit longer. Motor has 96,000 miles. Painted/Powder Coated a couple things. The following items were replaced:
Timing belt
Water Pump
Tensioner
Crank Seal
Cam seal
Main Seal
Intake manifold gasket
Exhaust Manifold gasket
Injectors
Oil Pan Gasket
Valve cover gasket
Spark Plug tube seals
Spark Plugs and wires
Hopefully it won't have give me any major problems for a while.
Anyways here are some pics of the Rex:

Pulled the motor that weekend. Washed the engine bay and in process of cleaning transmission housing than it should be ready to go in.

I also transferred the wagon front suspension over to the HX. Reason being it has brand new bushings and ball joints and I plan on getting a bigger brake setup for the wagon. HX tranny will be used for the time being up until I get my hand on and Si tranny. Fixed the pics. Thanks for checking in!

do you by chance live in Florida? I was talking to a guy with a '90 that had a blown headgasket about buying, just re-checked the listing on Craigslist and it was gone...

I think we are talking about the same guy. If so yes. This did have a blown headgasket. I'm located in St.Pete, FL. The guy lived about 7 minutes away from me.

Almost done putting the HF together. It's running pretty good! All that is left is to install my new tie rods, brakes, and tires and we're ready for a test drive.

After I get the remaining parts installed I would like to freshen up some of the black paint on the moldings, bumpers etc. Oh and also clean up the interior. It looks and smells like poo.

I'm not sure what's going on here but maybe the glass isn't attached to the regulator?

Big ol' gack on the front glass.
