I thought it was just the top corner but now, we have a clean classic break here. Consider it! I think it would be much easier to jbweld the faceplate over the climate control NOW before it breaks. A simple 1 day operation. Instead of 2… Peace of mind and allows you to focus on something else. Faceplate is only $11-12.

Dave_Darling wrote:Heh, I don't even remember losing a CDL! Must have been after I got the new license.

I guess the climate control couldn't deal with the AZ heat. I don't remember it being cracked at all when I owned it.

--DD

I thought it was funny! Pulling stuff out and that falls on the ground. Hmmmm… Where did Dave hide this? Haha you can it placed/wedged somewhere…

Agreed. The climate control was perfect 4 years ago. AZ heat must have got to it. One nice thing about the repair is that the jbweld cures in no time flat in the AZ heat. Hehe

Tonight, I will weld the faceplate to the control and let it sit one more day. Then reinstall everything Tuesday night. Need to get back to driving him around. I almost did not recognize him idling with the new pulley.

SOOOOOOooooooo quiet now…

My guess is that the internal breaking of the faceplate was happening much earlier than four years ago; NJ doesn't nearly have the heat of AZ, and mine broke several years ago. I wouldn't let DD off the hook so quickly.

Amazon. LINK HERE.

Although, I bought it at $11.99. Looks like it went up a few bucks. $14.99.

Completed the process of repairing the climate control. I thought I would be cheeky and shoot the steel faceplate with a satin finish and it is a bit glossy for me. So I plan on toning that down in the future so it has a flat sheen.

Not a bad fix but I could have lived without the control breaking. For $19, it is a suitable alternative.

But I am back and motoring again.

Spent some time on the buddy’s EM1. We suspected that the factory manifold was leaking so while we are in there, might as well swap out oil pan gasket too.

Turned out that the manifold did indeed have a leak due to cracking. We swapped out his factory/ebay exhaust combination as well with a Greddy EVO unit. Good stuff! B-pipe/muffler section had an additional 3 leaks in it. Glad we did it… Also swapped out both O2 sensors and the catalytic converter for a Magnaflow unit. Sounds fantastic now.

haha Hi Dave! My apologies. I have heard NOTHING from HMO (front end)... as for being #2 on the "list", I would have expected a phone call by now. But since it is the Holidays, I am waiting until after to turn up the heat on them.

MB is running great. Have absolutely zero issues with him.

Below is the most recent update I was just putting together!

Small update. Decided to start piecing together my shock refresh for the CRX. Found one shock here, another there… all new from vendors throwing out coupons, free shipping etc etc. Picked up a set of 4 new shocks for $449 shipped. Cant complain.

Ride quality is MUCH better now.

Image

Rear shock old vs new. With the larger exhaust and swaybar, made removing/installing the shocks much more interesting.

I took the time to disassemble everything and clean things up. So much garbage built up over the years. All components are cleaned up to the best of my ability and now re-assembled.

Dis-assembled and in order of removal

Right rear all assembled

Right rear corner buttoned back up. Cant really complain, each wheel well has stayed pretty clean over the years.

Right front old shock

Right front shock (new) installed and buttoned back up

The left front corner was a different story. Encountered this… poor stop was toast!

Here is an image I put together so I could follow the torque specs on the car to make sure nothing falls apart on me while driving. So far, so good.

Thanks Phil!

Its official, there is a difference in the CRX with the new shocks! hahaha I noticed a difference but then again, I swapped each corner out with new units.

Wife took the car to work today (fun run) and she asked me what I did to the car as it handles much better! Yup.. You guys with significant others know what I am talking about! I did not tell her what I did in order to get an objective opinion. And I got it! hehe :-)b

Love doing that...

Thanks. I did replace the stock rear swaybar for a larger replacement.

Looking good as always! I have the same problem when I take pics. The yellow always washes out the black and seems to mess with the clarity. Mess with the contrast and brightness and it'll help out a lot!
