How much for clutch install?

Postby guardian003 » Sun Feb 19, 2017 3:15 pm

I'm gonna buy an exedy stage 1 for my crx. How much is a good/ reasonable price to pay in California for a clutch replacement. Thanks
Wish I could do it myself but I don't have the skills/tools to do so.

Honestly, it's not that hard. There's even write-ups on this site showing it step by step. The hardest part is getting the trans on/off the engine since it's a good amount of weight. But it's nothing a floor jack and coupe blocks of wood can't handle.

I'd say anywhere from the $150-$300 range, but to me $300 is pretty high for how easy it is to do a clutch in one of these cars.

Thank you. Yeah I might try it out, it would a really cool learning experience. At the same time I'm doubtful if it's a good idea lol

Do it yourself. I've done a couple CRX clutches before and 4drSpankR will tell you that if I can do it, anyone can do it.

Although it is not that hard for those of us with some experience, I'd advise not doing it. I.E. it could drive you crazy when the splines don't quite align and you don't know what is happening. Even simple tasks can become annoyingly frustrating, at which point you would be glad to pay for it.
