Any Reason to Consider any Front LCAs other than Moog?

Postby tommy » Tue Feb 28, 2017 2:10 pm

I'm (very) slowly getting my list together of what I want replacing when I go with my Fortune coilovers (finally) before Niagara this year. So far, I have front upper control arms and my F7 rear LCAs are in great shape. That basically leaves everything else. But for now, is there any reason to look at anything other than Moog front lower LCAs? Judging by others here, they seem to be the standard, but was curious if anyone had any other recommendations for a car that's mostly used for weekend fun and the occasional track / autox day.

Gracias.

Why not use the OE arms?

Isn't it easier just to replace the arms than to deal with replacing the bushings? And mine are original, so I figured might as well just do the whole shootin' match. They are fairly cheap.

The bushings press out without much hassle. Depends on the condition of your parts and whether or not you feel stock replacement rubber bushings are stiff enough.

Hmm, thanks. I do have to think if I want the bennies and the downsides of stiffer bushings.

I'll have to do some thinking on that, thanks for the input.

It all comes down to money and time. If you want to save money and have time on your hands, just replace the bushings. I'm pretty sure auto parts stores will let you borrow tools for free, at least here in VA they do but you give them a deposit on the tools and get it back when you return the tool.

If you don't have much time on your hands and aren't too worried about the savings difference then you can just replace with new bushings already installed for you for convenience.

There are videos of how people have replaced the bushings. In my opinion I'd rather keep the oem arms and replace bushings after I've sanded and painted the arms.
