What I left a CRX for... 01 Integra Type R

Postby Gotin » Wed Dec 31, 2014 11:30 am

It has been a long time coming. I will always love CRX's, but this drives like a dream. 2001 Acura Integra Type R #01-1112. Credit for the photo goes to the previous owner.

First it will need 2 front tires and an alignment. After the previous owner adjusted the suspension and replaced the wheel bearings, they just sighted up the alignment. The incorrect toe has messed up tires.
I will need to source brackets for the front bumper to mount a usdm license plate. The only one I found for sale is sold by (www.TopOneMotors.com). I would prefer something much more simple but this seems to be the lead for a "clean" install.

The T1R exhaust is a little loud for my taste. I read that the stock ITR muffler will bolt up to the B-pipe perfect. I will be in the market for a used muffler.

The car has skunk2 dress-up bolts holding the fenders, lights, hood and radiator in place. I would like to replace all of these with oem yellow/zink coated bolts. I do not want to mess with the correct stainless bolt since they will need to be painted for a true oem look.

Down the road I would like to replace the wheels with a name brand set up. The oem wheels are very nice but they are using 15mm spacers which I don't have a good gut feeling about. They seem to work for now.

So a few little things, nothing big.
Why are the OEM wheels using 15mm spacers?

Because the stock fitment has them sunk in...I had the 15" wheels not the jdm 16 and they were sunk in. Know a lot of people that spaced the wheels to get them closer to flush.

My grandfather built a license plate bracket for my grandmother's camaro from a piece of a road sign.

Drill holes, bend to slightly over 90 degrees and bolt to the bottom of the bumper :)

If you can find a yellow sign, no need to paint!

Car looks great bud, your crx was soo clean iirc but I'm impressed with that thing (and yellow isn't my favorite color)

Beautiful car, I love type r's. I'll admit I like the usdm front end more, but it still looks great nonetheless

Very nice. Also sold my CRX to get a Integra. Not a type R but the GS-R works for me for a dd. A CRX with power p/s, cruise and a back seat.

Dave, you still have yours?

Went with a GSR twice, this being the nicest of the two we used to have.

All around great quality car, fun to drive and one of the best Honda interior layouts ever.

The interior set up is great. I drove the R with recaro seats in it but opted for the factory seats put back. There was almost no difference in the feeling. Seat still sits low in the car and hold you in place with the turns. Armrest/ shifter/ controls are all in perfect reach.

The factory seats have nice support and adjustment in them...

How many miles on this?

Did it come with the arm rest... Usually if someone put recaros in it they have the arm rest delete because they rub

109K.
The car also came with all the original body panels with matching vin numbers. I originally had black recaro seats, the JDM steering wheel and the armrest delete. I opted for the OG seats because recaros can be found anywhere. I did not want the steering wheel because the SRS light was on due to it and I want the armrest for the badge number.

Prior to the buy I had Honda do a compression and leak down test on the motor. It was all perfect and well below Honda tolerances.

It was a fun car and very fast...but wanted a more modern rwd car so went with a 370z..as for a fwd car you can't beat the Type R.

Nice ITR, this is on my short list. Dave, can't believe you sold yours for a Z. If you can get away with no back seat you're a lucky guy.

I have two other cars so yeah....The R is a very nice car, so much of what is missing in a CRX can be found in a Teg Type R.

Back seats and power steering and sometimes working AC?

While searching I found them as low as $7k with rust and mechanical issues to un godly amounts. I like to think $10k will land you a nice one.
