I was just watching a woman load her kids into one at walmart yesterday, that's when it clicked.
I finally know why the awd 5 speed trans is so difficult to source in the U.S.

Auto or manual?

I used to have a manual '01, even for what it was, it seemed underpowered, but I liked the interior and cargo room.

It's an automatic. It's definitely underpowered, but it works great in the snow. I installed an OBX header, Yonaka exhaust, S2000 throttle body, and a K&N filter to help with the lack of power. It help slight, but it's still a snail below 3k.

The b20 is gutless in those things.
I also wished the spare was integrated into the rear trunk area somehow so the rear gate would have opened like a traditional tail gate instead of swinging open like door.

There were versions (overseas) that actually have the spare in the trunk.

This is what we should have gotten on this side of the world, so much better looking!

Since I never updated my last post on this thread, here's my daily. Just passed over a year with it. Been very good for me. Well, once I got a new clutch, Hondata chipped, Magnaflow exhaust & cat, PRM cold air intake, Seibon rear wing, WedsSport TC105Ns in 17x8 (14.88 lbs a pieces - very slimming!; fluorescent yellow by Evasive Motorsports), new Pioneer double din stereo w/new speakers, replaced everything with led lighting, Buddy Club short shifter w/bushings and one of their shift knobs, and some other misc. crap. It's now at 147k, and I'd like to see it get 200-250k. Other than the obvious lack of serious muscle, it's a hoot. I wish they had continued with the shifter placement mid-console, it's awesome. :burnout:

I've driven Hondas', mainly Civics for nearly 20 yrs, a brand loyalist.
Been driving a beat up, auto '96 Dx, strictly a commuter, but it was getting pretty beat with 182k on it, rotten, suspension clunking and overall on it's way to the scrap heap.

Hit CL and found this little gem, '98 Ex w/ about 114k-ish on it, 5 spd, unmolested and owned by a couple in their 60's who used it as a 3rd car.
It needed a good cleaning in and out, swapped some things from the old car over to the "new" one (headlights and wheels), but it cleaned up real nice and runs amazing! Everything works, AC, heat, windows, mirrors and roof! Inspection done in March 2016, mileage at time of inspection 112k miles. Original cluster quit and needed to be replaced and was done with a auto cluster with just over 120k on it, hence the auto cluster in it.
