Daily driver: What is it?

Postby Baker » Fri Jan 09, 2015 7:35 pm

New year, new members arrive, old members come and go....

1.If your Crx is NOT your everyday commuter car, or you put it away for the winter season, what gets you from point A to B?

OR

2. If you no longer have a Crx, what have you moved onto, your "new project", "fun car"?

Post 'em up!

Slow, plain jane, basic, no frills, slushbox Civic Dx coupe. 31mpgs around town, The beater with a heater.

I'd love to have an old Civic wagon as a daily..either version FWD or AWD, but would need to be standard at least.
Simple, reliable, familiar and good fuel economy. :-)b

My daily driver is my truck, yeah it's a gas guzzler but I like it, besides I have the Hondas when I'm trying to save money on gas. It's reasonably fast, has plenty of room, and can haul anything I need it to haul.

2002 C230 Benz; bought it new in September 2001 when I didn't have the heart to daily the crx through another Joisey winter and couldn't wait for the first gen Minis to come out the next spring. It's just about at 184k right now, so have more miles on it than the CRX, but has been way less reliable. Probably going to need to get a replacement for it before next winter, though. ATM, it's a toss-up between an EP3 breadvan or a new Fit, as they now have a sunroof, which was my main reason against them.

When the EP3 breadvan debuted, I really disliked them, but as time has gone on and Hondas' designs get worse with each new release, the EP3 isn't all that bad. I do like the slightly updated '04/'05's.

This is my daily since the crx is in storage. I just moved and have been apt living. Once i find a house with garage ill be driving the crx again. Work is 1.1 miles from home so fuel milage is not a concern.

Me too - it's subtle, but the last two years' updates help it look less dated.

My daily right now is my mazda truck. Once I get the crx fixed and the weather starts to change for the better I'll start driving it again.

Both my daily and project cars are crxs. I'd love to daily a 6th gen accord coupe again or an accord wagon in the future, but the crx is a great gas sipper for someone who drives 50+ miles a day!

Auto or manual?

I used to have a manual '01, even for what it was, it seemed underpowered, but I liked the interior and cargo room.

It's an automatic. It's definitely underpowered, but it works great in the snow. I installed an OBX header, Yonaka exhaust, S2000 throttle body, and a K&N filter to help with the lack of power. It help slight, but it's still a snail below 3k.

Lol, in Florida we put CRXes away for the SUMMER because it's so #{#]^]#^ hot and humid! Or at least only drive them at night and early mornings...

My daily is a Jeep Wrangler.

The b20 is gutless in those things.
I also wished the spare was integrated into the rear trunk area somehow so the rear gate would have opened like a traditional tail gate instead of swinging open like door.
