Honda digging itself deeper? ?

Postby C_REX » Fri Jul 24, 2015 11:19 am

Lately Honda is gathering a reputation for leaving its roots. Building fun driving, reliable, efficient, market defining automobiles. (At least here in the U.S.) The Accord is one of Honda's best sellers. So it is no surpise that after a bland design rutt in the 2000's, they gave the whole car a once over. Bringing out some of the best design efforts in the Accord since 02'.

There does seem to be a constant here though. Once Honda achieves a great thing, they are very reluctant to change it. This idea has served them well by allowing them to build reiable drive trains (besides some of their less desired transmissions). Unfortunately it seems to be hindering them in their efforts to perform basic facelifts to their models. Especially the Accord.

Feel free to give it a read and post your feedback.

Your thesis here was the prevailing argument about... 6-12mo ago.

Since then, Honda has a new CEO and vows to focus on quality and come out with more exciting models:

The new 2016 Civic coupe, the S660, NSX, rumored CR-Z 2.0 that's performance oriented. And rumored "baby NSX" as an S2000 successor... Sounds like they might make good on that promise.

The new Accord looks bad, too much plasitc chrome, makes them look as bad as anything in the Acura lineup.
The rear looks like the newer Civic.
