87 CR-X Si Won't Start!!

Postby KSCRXsi87 » Sat Apr 01, 2017 1:17 am

OK so I just bought this 87 CR-X Si. I was driving and out of nowhere sparks start emitting from my steering column. I'm assuming the original owner forgot to tape up a wire or something. But now when I turn the key dash comes on seems like everything works but the car won't crank or make a sounds like it's completely dead. Anyone have an idea on what the issue is or where I can start to check. I have to tow it home in the morning and need input asap as I need this car for work.

Disconnect the battery, don't want to shock yourself whilst playing under the dash. Check the fuses and relays; shorts can blow/break them. After that, find where the sparks were coming from; you can usually tell from scorch marks on the metal/plastic or any melted plastic. Fix any loose connections or breaks you find. While you're under there, test the ignition switch with a multimeter to see if it broke.

Either that, or go to a mechanic shop and tell them to do it for you.
I got a new shell, just need to stop driving the DX so I can work on it.

I've got a filter for my mouth, it just isn't a good one.
