Uhhh? I just mean could something cracked or something broken inside the tranny cause the wheels to spin forward when its in reverse gear.

Yes, spin forward as if it was in 4th gear...one gate over.

Hmmm i'm kind of afraid to pull everything apart like that. I've never done that before and im afraid I would make it worse.. if that's even possible.

It isn't an easy thing to accidentally pull the gears off of the shafts or anything. The service manual actually calls for a press to take it apart. You 2 should skype this thing together.
I got a new shell, just need to stop driving the DX so I can work on it.

I've got a filter for my mouth, it just isn't a good one.

I don't have a press, not needed on D and B transmissions, Now K's, they are a fragile PITA wimpy transmission.

While the FSM calls for a press, certain years the parts just slide off just by tipping upside down.

postimage.org, link to the folder.

They used enough sealant for a small block chevy valve cover or three.

Get some wooden blocks under it. The floor is currently pressing the input shaft up so it's sitting in both 2nd and 4th gear.

Wooden blocks have been added! Thanks for the heads up. Anything look abnormal to anyone? Everything looked alright to me. Is there any way some gears could be in the wrong place? Sorry if that's a silly question..

The shaft wouldn't be pushed up THAT far though....also it is firmly in 3rd and 5th gear, partly into 1st gear. MS bearing is missing, stuck in the outer case half?

IMG 0440, looks like the 5th hub is up too high, might not be indexed correctly as well.
IMG 0429, 0433, 0446, 0447, mainshaft thrust washer and 1mm shim washer missing.
IMG 0444, CS lock nut never been removed since built by Honda.

This, it why I ask for pics, aka tranny pron.

Whoa.. You know your trannys.

Alright sooo, there IS a bearing in the outer case half. I'm assuming that the missing 'MS' bearing.
How can it be in two and a half gears at once? Was that because of how it was sitting on the ground?
Could the missing washers cause any damage or malfunctions?
Does the lock nut not being removed raise any red flags?
Also, could you tell if there was anything weird about the diff? Can you tell if its been added vs being original with the tranny?

Thanks for the help and sorry for the questions.. If you want more pics let me know!

The shaft is not properly seated.

Also I need to look better for those washers, but the CRX died again tonight and I might be done with it.

The diff looks to be a Kaaz/Cusco style unit, not from the factory that I have seen. It will need additives or it will be chunky when driven.

Your crx died? :(
I can't even get mine running.. sigh..
So do you want me to take more pics of where the washers are suppose to be? Not sure what you mean by additives or that type of diff.. but if that's not factory, then HMO straight up lied. Badly.

Is the shaft not being seated because of how its sitting or it was put back together incorrectly?

Gee ... Holy Cow - ! BuMP !

It's like a movie on pause .. please continue ..

a- Mr Bone , crx died ? i got the top of an HF if it gets you running temporarily , just need dizzy / alt
b- OP - please post the pics w / Mr bones summary under the pics ..
it's too hard to go back and forth to the pics and , eh .. kinda like Flickr better
more zoom / navigate / embed options ..
Maybe post some different angles and we can see more details ..

Also RE all stuffs said ..
I'm not expert but pretty sure ALL those helical cut gears should be perfectly in line.
Maybe the one shaft got stuck on that bearing that's stuck in the case and pulled the shaft up till the bearing broke loose and it just never "settled" back into place.
and finally kinda, weird that the diff is not OEM ..

hopefully some update is coming soon .. :/

Lol! Well I'm glad you are interested in what's going on!

I've actually just been waiting for Mista Bone to reply! I've been checking back daily.

As of now the tranny still sits in the garage. The diff wouldn't be OEM because HMO has apparently lied to me. I haven't called them back but i'm convinced they sent me the same tranny with a different diff.. Hence it not being OEM.

I'll take more pics in the morning but I'm not really sure what areas to take more detailed pics off and the terminology of the inner workings of trannys are foreign to me so if you have any ways to show me where you want to see pics I'll do my best to get the right shots.

Also, I'll try to push everything down? or just wiggle.. stuff.. and see if anything happens lol

Regardless, I'll take more pics in the morning and post them in Flickr and supply the link here. I would post them up directly on this thread but not entirely sure how..

The actual easiest way to upload photos is to download the Tapatalk app. I guess they upload that to their own server you just click upload photo then it does it.

Go on YouTube and search for B series transmission or Honda transmission and there's some good videos showing the internal workings.
that'll give you an idea of what photograph.

Also to post individual pictures, just copy the link, and press the button at the top that says IMG.

Flickr also allows the option to choose BBC code
Which is specifically designed for forums and bulletin boards.

Cool :) .. i'm trying to learn abt transmissions too ..
I know just a little more than the basics.
your syncros look pretty good , the points are nicely shaped and even and i don't see a lot of burrs on anything.
The rings look to be pretty round too , not flat ( flat = not good )
And i think the "dog teeth" are the ones that are actually on the gears .. those look nice shape too.
Seems like a lot of marks on the gears themselves .. not sure how that happens .. worth mentioning though.

From my "laymans" point of view .. the syncros and rings look a little "too good" .. like they have been serviced or replaced .. again .. not an expert .. just making observations based on what little i know.
Sorry i can't be of more help ..

Thanks for posting more pics
and .. how do you like Flickr ?
I like it a lot on the computer ..
links & scaling mess on on mobile phones
when you copy a link it actually give you the photo "next" to the one you intend to post :rolleyes1:
and you cant get a slideshow on mobile .. ( argh )
but it's great on the computer.

No problem, and I appreciate the help!

Took me a minute how to upload pics to flickr because I was trying to do off my phone and that wasn't working out so well, like you said, works well on the computer though. Cool zoom options and what not.

Maybe I'll try to take it to another tranny shop tomorrow or something..

Hope all is well with Mista Bone's crx though..

Piece of valve played popcorn into cylinder #3, no idea where it ended up.

Image

Not to mention I have 5 race trans. lined up to finish, while trying to swap in a JDM D15 with a DX trans I'm custom gearing in the CRX...

BUSY?

I'm trying. Mazda 626 in my future (with cruise and AC!) so I'm able to travel more, to fix these issues.
