ECU Repair advice

Postby Gophat » Fri Feb 10, 2017 9:14 pm

Terrible day, car was running perfectly fine and then it wouldn't start anymore. Car has spark but no fuel, the fuel pump does whine and the main relay clicks, but the injectors won't spray. I swapped for a different ECU and the car starts, so I know it is my PR4 chipped ECU. Gives me a solid Engine light. The funny thing is sometimes it fires as well but the engine light stays solid regardless.

Now besides replacing Q31 Transistor and C14 Capacitor, what other components would you guys recommend? Too be honest all the caps look new and none are leaking. The transistor has a little bit of "browning" on it.

IC17 controls main relay function

Any advice would be helpful.

Electrolytic capacitors can dry out and still look good

I ended up changing all the caps along with the list above. It turned the car on but then it stopped again. I think I will buy a conversion harness for peace of mind.

I have a buddy coming over tomorrow to let me try my computer in his car to see if it is my ECU for sure.
