Turbo map sensor?

Postby Crxtremecrx » Wed Mar 01, 2017 8:53 am

I am getting a few different answers when I talk to people or do a search. I am 89 d16a6 with turbo. I am obd1 with newest hondata. I hope to run 15psi or more. Do I need a new map sensor or is the stock one going to work or should I swap to a 92 intake with one on the tb

None of the stock MAP sensors will properly read 15 psi. Hondata and AEM sell 4-bar sensors, or the budget option is the GM 3-bar.

So I will need to swap intake manifolds and what not then?

Who said anything about swapping the intake manifold? No you don't need to do that.

Go to the junkyard and pick up a GM 3-bar MAP. Perfect to use with hondata and cheap.
I got a new shell, just need to stop driving the DX so I can work on it.

I've got a filter for my mouth, it just isn't a good one.

Map reads off a vacuum line from the manifold.

Ok So I got the sensor in the other day. I was told not to install it till I am at the dyno shop or the car won't run right on hondata.

I thought that Hondata had a drop down for selecting the sensor type? Should be able to install it and just change the setting in the software.

I haven't played with the Hondata software in years, so double check.

I didn't do the first setup on my laptop. I heard if I hook up and try to change it. It will erase everything that is already programmed.

They have that 'tuner' lock-out bs on Hondata? Call your tuner, request the tune, or have them come and download it and give it to you. Then don't use that tuner again.
