I too would like to see this. Of course as always it could be shut down if it goes too far. Maybe at least be kept to car related stuff as in tools or something. It would be kind of weird to see people selling their china dishes or food. Then again it might work as long as there can be a general classified rules...

Eh why not now, it wouldn't matter if you had a section for it people would still post it in the wrong section..
Probably.

But really, with a larger base now, the forum is a little more active, I don't see why a General Garage sale section with items For Sale and WTB wouldn't be a good idea amongst the community.

Personally, I don't see the need for it. I come here for CRX related stuff. If I need something for some other chassis, I'll go someplace that's more suited for it.
I think, over the years, we've been pretty successful at keeping this site as "CRX only" as we can. Why change that now?
You still can come here for Crx related stuff.
But I don't see the harm in opening it up either.
I'd rather go to one forum instead of 15 different ones, ones I haven't been to in years, don't "know" anyone on or have to sign up for yet one more forum.

I'd rather sell an xbox to someone on here then some random dude on CL.
This is the same reason I havent parted with my original fat PS2. It rarely sees use and I need a new controller, but I'd hate myself for selling it to someone thats just going to abuse it, or worse, box it up and leave it in a closet.

Also, I'd rather buy a cheap DVD player off of someone here instead of on craigslist where I could get a Taiwanese knock off that doesn't work for all I know. It's up to the mods though.

Like everyone else says, you'd feel more comfortable buying/selling to fellow enthusiasts. The problem I see with that Is people joining the site just to sell stolen stuff that they're too scared to post on eBay or CL. With that, those people aren't your fellow enthusiast buddies, they're people trying to sell ****.

My $.02.

I do support the idea, I would prefer to buy from a trusted member on here than on misc places..
That's one of the good points about this.
Many of us share other common hobbies other then Crx's.
Have a General "Garage sale forum".
Following the same rules as the Crx classifieds, as far as structure works, price, location, bumps, etc.
After 90 days of inactivity, the thread is deleted anyway.
I would have it only open to members who have been on here a certain amount of time though, just so not every noob on here throws up their random junk.

I don't really buy the arguments here.
Just because someone has a lot of posts here doesn't make them any more or less trustworthy than a member with a lot of posts on any other site.

As for only opening up a forum only to members with xxx amount of posts...that discussion has been had many times in the past. In the end, it just means you'll get people making a bunch of random posts just to increase their post count. Then you just end up with 1. a lot more random posts cluttering up our forum and, 2. a "noob" member with a bunch of posts, so now you automatically trust him enough to send him your money for random non-crx stuff.

If you want to go to "one" place to buy all your things....go to Craigslist, or Ebay, or Amazon.

I still vote for doing what we can to keep this place "CRX only"

I don't buy that argument...
-I don't think ppl are motivated enough to do that.
-If they did, anyone with common sense can tell whose here legitimately, and whose posting up stupid posts just to play games.

It doesn't really make a difference to me either way, just an idea and opinion.

Many of us share other common hobbies other than Crx's.
So because of that and because of the change in the guard and the "preferred vendor" being able to post things that have NOTHING to do with our cars, I think we should revisit this.
Have a General "Garage sale forum", a sub forum in the Classifieds section.
*Following the same rules as the Crx classifieds, as far as structure works, price, location, bumps, etc.
*After 90 days of inactivity, the thread is deleted.
*Only open to members who have been on here a certain amount of time though, NOT post count!

Just so not every noob on here throws up their random junk.

along with these, it would be nice to have a different format for store based threads. like being able to delete other posts that clutter the thread, such as spam, bashing, and just general chat that draws away from the topic.

also how long would you say a member would be eligible for a garage sale storefront.

-That's what the "report" button is for.
-I was thinking along the lines of 90 days.
