Looking for advice about selling or giving away parts

Hi,

I am in central NC. My husband (bil hays) was an enthusiast and used to post here some years ago. He very sadly died. He had three CRXs that I think I will be able to sell locally.

My problem is that I've been trying to clear out the basement. There are a number of CRX parts down there that I have no idea what to do with. I don't know what they are, aside from that I can identify a muffler and a couple of car seats. Goodwill does not want any of it for sure.

Any advice is welcome.

Patricia

If you can hold out, DO NOT send them to the junk yard.
I would list them on CL (if people still use that, or FB marketplace, the Crx Owners Worldwide FB group, but list it as a whole lot, buyer must take all.
Hopefully a member more local to you will see this, contact you, bring a truck and trailer, take those parts off your hands, and put them to good use.
You could also mention that you have extra parts that you would sell along with the cars?

I recall bil on here from years ago, a wealth of knowledge and great to converse with.

Hopefully this helps give you some ideas.

Hi Patricia-

Very sorry for your loss. I'm sure he's proud of your approach to this task. I often wonder what my wife would do upon my passing.

I have a fellow enthusiast in your area that I've reached out too. Maybe he can offer some assistance. I've also sent you a private message with my contact number. Feel free to give me a call.

That's a good idea. I've thought about that too. It might make sense to give them to somebody who showed up with a trailer to haul off a car.

Thank you so much for the kind words. It's good to hear from someone who knew him. He was the bomb. I can hardly see straight without him.

Sorry to hear of your loss!

I would post it all up as a lot on the local facebook marketplace and craigslist for a discount.
You have a few parts worth some money in there, but a lot of it is not valuable. I think a fair asking for it all might be around $400 or so. An enthusiast will come grab it all from you, I would if I was local!

I'm actually glad there isn't anything valuable in there. I am absolved of caring about it. :)

Maybe not much, but surely the three cars are worth *something?* If not, it will be easier to get rid of them I guess. Bil paid $3K for just one of them in 2007, though it was (barely) running at the time.

I'm so sorry to hear about this. I met Bil once, a few of us came to your house probably 10 years ago or more. He was an awesome guy and we had some fantastic BBQ from what I remember. I'll PM you my number, I'd be interested in a lot of the parts you have. Might be able to get one of the cars out of your way too.

Sorry to hear about Bil, me and Farva came down for a bbq at some point.
I also met Bil at some point and traded/gave/sold? him a sunroof panel, I think for a waffle house meal
I remember good conversation and his green VW.

Good luck with the parts and cars. I think remember the conversation about the seats in the red 88si.
