Editing for sale posts

Should members be able to edit their own for sale ads ?
What is to stop a unscrupulous member making a sale and then changing details ? A few extra HP here a few less miles there , a decimal point one way or the other .
How could a dispute be settled if the original advert is not available ? EBay allows amendments but keeps a register of the changes . Other forums i use don't allow editing . Much easier here to just block members from editing ads , simply remove the edit button

I understand what you're saying, but I like being able to go back and being able to update and edit the original thread. Being able to add or delete parts as they are sold helps when you have a continuous running FS thread, instead of creating a new one every time.

For the most part, we have a good user base and regulate ourselves pretty well.

The buyer can edit the quote just as easy too to fit their needs.

I appreciate the usefulness of it (ive used it myself) and i guess if misusing isn't an issue (long may it continue) then no need to change it .

I haven't seen it be a issue... If it does happen I'm sure the seller would be called out pretty quick.
