Wanting to swap a B18B1 into my '87 Si.

Postby DJArkum » Sat Oct 27, 2018 1:43 pm

I'm new to this forum so if there's already a discussion about this please drop me a link to the thread.

I have a stock 1987 Si and recently acquired a B18B1. How much work will it take for me to perform the swap.

Also, which transmission will first the easiest?

Thanks for any help in advance.

I know Hasport makes a mount kit for B-series swaps in these cars. They would be the ones to talk to. As for transmissions, a 1990-1993 B18A cable transmission would be best for this swap. You could also use a B16A or B17A cable transmission for better acceleration. But the short fifth gear on these transmissions makes them rather unsuitable for freeway driving with a non-VTEC engine.
