SUGGESTIONS FOR SUSPENSION REPLACEMENT 1987 Si

Postby ART SALE » Fri Mar 01, 2019 10:29 am

I am so fortunate to have my 3rd CRX Si, and this one is in excellent condition. All original 1987, 124k, no body issues, no engine issues, never winter driven. My project for this spring is the suspension. The original had definitely gone squirrely. I think I need full shock/strut replacement, and I am looking for recommendations as to what brand/model I should be looking for. My Honda mechanic has located parts he finds acceptable, but I wonder if there are enough differences, that I should avoid certain options, or seek out anything other than what is available "off the shelf". Opinions?

Do you want stock ride height and ride quality or do you want something that is a bit stiffer and will make the car handle a little better, while dropping the ride height a touch?

I think I would prefer to keep it pretty much the same. I do not want it any lower. As I remember 30 years ago, it handled just fine, and I am not doing the track! I am just wondering if standard KYB parts are okay, or if there is a better brand or style that is better quality?

KYB is a reputable brand and for what you're looking for, their standard stuff will do just fine.
