1987 crx help

Postby evonikx » Mon Apr 15, 2019 2:50 pm

Hello everyone, i just purchased a 1987 crx its an automatic (i know , i know) when i purchased it i drove it home an hour from where i bought it and parked it. The next morning i went to start it and you can hear the engine trying to turn but it wont start. I charged the battery thinking maybe i left the lights on our something, than i went to check the fuses just to be sure, i noticed the alternator/ carb solenoid fuse was blown, i replaced it and attempted to fire it on, made a weird noise i dont know how to describe, went back to check the fuse and it was blow. Attempted this 3 times and every time after an attempted start the fuse is blown. I would appreciate any assistance, i attempted to search the forum but didnt find anything similar.

Ok so i got the starter rebuilt as i noticed it was sticking, replaced the fuse and charged the batter, started with no problem, now though the battery wont stay charged, jump it, leave the car parked in neutral and dies after a couple mins.
Thinking its the alternator but the car has a wiring mess. First noticed a couple connections just laying around was hoping someone could tell me whats suppose to be plugged into them. Theyre located on passenger side of engine bay. Tried googling diagrams but couldnt find answer.

The plugs are for the emissions control box. That's not causing your problems. I'd bet your alternator brushes are worn out. Easy to check and replace them.
