89 Si Transmission Help!

Postby ykf7b0 » Sat Jun 20, 2020 8:03 pm

I recently installed nitrous on my 89 si and all was well until I increased the jetting to a75 hp shot. I was spraying from a 2nd gear roll and it wouldn't come out of 2nd until I stopped and killed the engine. I was sure the clutch had gave up on me after only 10k since replacing it but the clutch looks as good as the day it was installed. With the engine off I could row through the gears like always but with the engine running I cannot shift. Again, the clutch/ pressure plate, and flywheel all look great so what gave up on me?

I have not found any broken forks, gears, or bearings and the only gear that was showing much wear was reverse. Any ideas?

Even though I didn't find an obvious issue with the transmission or clutch I bought and installed a known good 90/91 CRX si transmission along with a new Exedy clutch and everything is normal. I guess I will never know what went wrong.
