I have a D16Z6 that I swapped into the car and I think it had a blown head gasket. It's been nearly impossible to get started, often running the battery dead before I could get it started. I tested so many things trying to figure it out. I'm planning on pulling off the head tomorrow, inspect / rebuild it. I'm debating what to do with the block.
Here's the compression numbers with the engine warm: 190, 182, 175, 178.
I don't know for certain how many miles are on the engine, I think he said 130k.
So what would you do? Leave the block along, re-ring it or do new pistons? I'm not planning on racing it, I just want it to be reliable.

I think determining where the compression leak is will help you decide what to do.

Decided I didn't have time to rering this year so I left it alone.
